One seaman was from the brigantine Java, which was totally wrecked in the area of Sierra Leone, and Capt Stillwall and 11 distressed seamen the crew of the brig Anna bound from Russia with a cargo of wheat, which went down 250miles from Ushant, captain and crew abandoned her and were picked up by a Dutch vessel and landed at Madeira.
