Death of Mrs T. WATKINS

We regret to record the death of Mrs Thomas Watkins aged 71, which occurred on Sunday at Glenmore, The Woodlands Saughall Rd. Mr and Mrs Watkins came to Blacon from Liverpool 15 years ago, and Mr Watkins built several dwellings in Oakfield Rd. There are four daughters and one son, all married. Two daughters live in Blacon. The funeral took place on Thursday at Allerton Cemetery Liverpool.

The mourners were The widower, Mr and Mrs H. T. Watkins, [son and daughter in law], Mr and Mrs W. H. Partington, Mr and Mrs J. Cooke, Mr and Mrs E. Howard, Mr and Mrs W. J. Manley [sons in law and daughters] and Miss E. Griffiths.

Death of Lieut Colonel C.N. CROSS

Lieut Colonel Charles Norman Cross, aged 52, who died in Madeira on February 26th, will be buried with Military honours at Allerton Cemetery today. His death will be keenly felt by past and present members of the 87th [1st West Lancs] Regiment R.F.A. the 275th Brigade of the war years. He was posted to the brigade in August 1914, and remained with it until demobilisation. During the heaviest fighting he commanded G. Battery and was awarded the Military Coss and Bar, and was mentioned in despatches. After the war he commanded the 87th Field Brigade, R.A. He was one of the moving spirits in the annual reunion of C/275 Battery, by whose members he will be held in affectionate remembrance.

As above, A native of Liverpool who helped develop the searchlight during the war, was technical representative of Leyland Motors Ltd, on whose behalf he had visited Riga [Latvia] a number of continental countries and North and South America. He joined the firm in 1920 as principal of the Engineer Apprentice Hostel, he was chief engineer from 1929 to 1933. Educated at Liverpool and Zurich Universities he held appointments on the staff of the City and Guilds Colleges and the Imperial College of Science and Technologists of London. During the war he was captain in the Royal Engineers and served in France. He leaves a widow and one daughter.

Death of Captain A. M. THOMSON

Captain Andrew Murdoch who died at his residence, Grove Rd, Fairfield, yesterday aged 71, was at one time well known in Liverpool shipping circles. In his early days he was associated with the Rae Shipping Co, which operated sailing vessels. Subsequently he joined the Harrison Line, and after sailing with that company for a number of years was engaged by the Houston Line, retiring in 1920. An enthusiastic bowler, he was a member of the Newsham and Brompton Bowling Clubs and also a member of the Ancient Britain Masonic Lodge. He leaves a widow, the funeral is at Allerton Cemetery on Thursday.
