At the Liverpool police court

Before Mr RAFFLES on Weds

Robert BIRCHALL, Butcher of Ormskirk, summoned for offering for sale at the abattoir, Towbridge St, on 29th ult, the carcass of a slink calf, unfit for human consumption.

Mr MARKS prosecuted, defendant twice fined for previous offences, imprisonment could result. BIRCHALL had been in bad health and a servant sent the carcass to the abattoir. Under these circumstances, fined £10 and costs.

Margaret WALKER, Shopkeeper, 3 Springfield St, summoned for exposing for sale, 5 pieces of pork, unfit for food. Insp TOMLINSON visited the shop on 28th ult, the pork displayed in the window, was diseased by measles – fined 40s and costs

Ellen BIRCHALL, Fishmonger, 139 Westminster Rd, summoned for exposing for sale, 374 sprats, unfit for food. Insp RICHMOND visited premises on 27th ult, sprats in a box in the window stinking, fined 40s and costs.
