Magistrates on the bench, Messers E. LAWRENCE, Alderman SAMUELSON, E. BANNER, H. L. GREGORY, J. PATTERSON, W. CROSFIELD and W. RATCLIFFE.
Mr BREMNER applied on behalf of Joshua JONES for the removal of a license from, Mason St to a premises on the corner of Durning Rd and Plimsoll St, the applicant had a brewery in Mason St with a public house attached, he had a lease of the brewery and was a yearly tenant of the public house.
The London and North West Railway Co had acquired the premises in their Act of Parliament and had compensated him for his interest in the brewery but not for the public house, the new premises was in an area with a large population – application withdrawn.
The Rev R. H. LUNDIE and Rev W. F. STUBBS, said that if the application had gone on, it would have been opposed on public grounds.
Mr BREMNER applied on behalf of Thomas Richard EVANS for the removal of a beer licence from, 22 Plumbe St to the Sefton Restaurant, 47 Sefton St. The old premises being acquired by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Co and about to be pulled down by Act of Parliament. Insp ROGERSON said that there were already three public houses close to the new premises – application refused
