Good Luck shoe for Clyst St George bride, wedding token of village blacksmith Two well known old Devonshire families were united by the wedding of Mr Francis Arthur SANDERS, of Brockwells, Clyst St Mary and Miss Kathleen TULLY, at Clyst St George on Tuesday. The bride is the eldest daughter of the late Mr George TULLY of Heathfield, Denbury, Newton Abbot, and Mrs H. FISHER of Highbury, Topsham, and the bridegroom the eldest son of Mr and Mrs Charles SANDERS, formerly of Brockwells. Miss TULLY has been living for some years with her brother, Mr George TULLY, at Marianpool, Clyst St George, where she has won much popularity, evidenced on her wedding morning when Mr J. GIBBONS, the Clyst St George blacksmith sent her a cast shoe of Prince one of the Marianpool horses. Gilded in token of wishes for good luck. Rector Rev E. S. POWELL, M.A officiated, Mrs POWELL played the organ. The bridesmaids were Miss Dorothy FISHER, sister of the bride, and the Misses Hazel and Jean LANGMEAD, nieces of the groom. Mr Walter C. SANDERS, brother of the groom was best man. Mr Reginald FISHER and Mr Llewellyn TOUT were ushers.

The bride was given away by her brother Mr George TULLY. The reception after the wedding was held at Highbury, by Mr and Mrs H. FISHER, the brides mother and stepfather.

The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs R. J. CHICHESTER, of Lurley Manor, Calverleigh, Tiverton and the bridegroom the youngest son of Major and Mrs A. H. GIBBS of Pytte, Clyst St George. The wedding took place quietly at the parish church of Stoke D. Abernon, near Cobham, Surrey.

Wedding at Clyst St George

Colleagues of the bride, V.A.D, nurses, formed a guard of honour at the wedding at Clyst St George Parish Church of Miss Pamela Mary GIBBS, youngest daughter of Major and Mrs A. H. GIBBS, Pytte, Clyst St George and Major C. H. LIDDELL of the Rifle Brigade eldest son of Lieut Col and Mrs G. W. LIDDELL, Lythecourt, Tiverton. The Rector Rev C. B. ARMSTRONG officiated. Bridesmaids were Miss Eve EDGEDALE, Miss Mercy EDGEDALE, Miss Anne CHICHESTER, and little Miss Evadne GIBBS. Master Anthony WILLIAMS was page and Sub Lieut W. A. LIDDELL, R.N.V.R, the brother of the groom was best man.

Family Reunion

GOLDEN WEDDING of Dartmouth couple

Mr and Mrs Walter William LANGDON of 2 Horn Hill, Dartmouth, celebrated their Golden Wedding on Sunday, having been married at Plympton St Mary by the Rev H. HINE, on January 20th 1885. Mr LANGDON, who is 70, is a native of Clyst St George, and has been a general labourer first at Plympton St Mary and later for about 20years at Venn, near Dartmouth, for Mr H. HINGSTON, estate agent of Totnes. Six years ago he was taken ill and now lives at Dartmouth. His wife, aged 69, before her marriage, Miss Florence Ann HONEY, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs R. HONEY, of Plympton, St Mary.

Their nine children are William Robert LANGDON, of Avonwick, Edwin Charles LANGDON, of Ivybridge, Walter Alfred LANGDON, of Dartmouth, Mrs Gladys ELLIOTT of Stoke Fleming, Mrs Beatrice TUCKER, Mrs Violet BARNES, Mrs Florence STEPHENS of Dartmouth, Mrs Winifred BOWHAY of Totnes and Mrs Dorothy TUCKER of Torquay. They have 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. On Sunday there was a family reunion and they received a handsome gift from their children in honour of the event, there was a large party for tea at 2 Horn Hill, Dartmouth, many messages of congratulation were received.
