Wreck of the steam ship ORION

AWFUL CATASTROPHE LOSS OF THE STEAM SHIP ORION

On Monday afternoon the splendid steam vessel ORION, Capt HENDERSON, sailed from Liverpool to Glasgow

The following is a tolerably full and correct list of the saved and drowned. Many however had left Portpatrick before their names were taken down. We believe the whole crew were saved, with the exception of Mr GRAHAM, the Head Steward, Mrs BLAIN, Stewardess and a sailor boy named DUNN.

The PRINCESS ROYAL of Glasgow, called at Portpatrick and arrived here yesterday bringing the following news, the people with diving apparatus had recovered luggage and other property, the number of bodies found to that time is 23, the entire loss will be under 40. She has brought the bodies of, Mr JAGO, Mr PIERCE and Mr ROBY back to Liverpool. Mr ROBY was a banker at Rochdale and is the son of the author of, “Legends of Lancashire.”
